Cognitive enhancers, also known as "smart drugs," are substances used to enhance memory, mental alertness, and concentration. Some common examples include caffeine, amphetamines, methylphenidate, modafinil, arecoline, donepezil, vortioxetine, and piracetam. These enhancers work on the principle of synaptic plasticity and altered circuit function.
