Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate if a shortened debriefing guide improves student-led team debriefing quality.
  • To compare the effectiveness of the original Teamwork Assessment Scale (TAS) with its shortened version, the Quick Teamwork Assessment Scale (QTAS).

Main Methods:

  • Senior medical, nurse anesthesia, and nursing students participated in simulation-based operating room team training.
  • Debriefings were guided by either the TAS (2018) or QTAS (2019).
  • Trained observers rated debriefing quality using the Objective Structured Assessment of Debriefing (OSAD) instrument.

  • The QTAS resulted in a statistically significant higher mean OSAD score for the Analysis item (4.92) compared to the TAS (3.83).
