  • To develop high-quality, curriculum-specific practice questions.
  • To provide a learning and teaching opportunity for medical students.

Main Methods:

  • A workshop trained second-year students to write multiple-choice questions.
  • Student-written and faculty-written questions were combined into a 50-question exam.
  • Faculty reviewed all student-written questions.

Main Results:

  • No significant difference in question difficulty between student-written and faculty-written questions (p=0.37).
  • Student-written questions had higher discrimination index and point biserial correlation (p<0.01, p<0.05).
  • Both test-takers and writers demonstrated learning gains.

Conclusions:

  • Student-led question development is a feasible model for creating high-quality, curriculum-specific exams.
  • This project effectively met the demand for practice questions and provided valuable teaching experience.
