Abstract:
Subarachnoid hemorrhage is a life-threatening complication of cerebral aneurysm rupture, which not only causes severe disability but is associated with a mortality rate of >40% within 30 days after the event. In this article, we discuss the basic knowledge and novel therapeutic approaches to cerebral aneurysms, including endovascular treatment and microsurgical clipping. Moreover, we discuss animal models used in basic research on cerebral aneurysms and the latest research that aims to establish optimal pharmacological treatment for cerebral aneurysms.
