Low molecular weight polyethylene. Cause for wear in a total hip replacement case
1Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis.
Abstract:
The problem of acetabular wear in a 50-year-old man with bilateral total hip arthroplasties is presented. Wear is generally demonstrated by in vitro testing. Ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene is the preferred material and should be considered the standard material for arthroplasty.
