Nonhuman primates learn adjacent dependencies but fail to learn nonadjacent dependencies in a statistical learning

Primates can learn simple patterns but struggle with complex, nonadjacent dependencies, even with enhanced cues. This study found monkeys did not learn arbitrary nonadjacent associations, highlighting differences in statistical learning sophistication compared to humans.
