    Background:

    • Primary osteosarcoma of the spine is an exceptionally rare bone malignancy.
    • Diagnosis and treatment present unique challenges due to the spinal location.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To review the clinical characteristics, treatment, and outcomes of patients with primary spinal osteosarcoma.
    • To evaluate the efficacy of aggressive therapeutic strategies for this rare tumor.

    • Retrospective case series of 27 patients diagnosed and treated at the Mayo Clinic.
    • Analysis of patient demographics, presenting symptoms, diagnostic methods, surgical interventions, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy.
