Epilepsy is a chronic neurological disease marked by recurrent, unpredictable seizures. These seizures are caused by abnormal electrical discharges in the brain, leading to behavior, sensation, or consciousness alterations. Seizures: Classification

Epilepsy is primarily characterized by unpredictable seizures, either provoked by an identifiable factor, such as injury or illness, or unprovoked, occurring spontaneously without apparent cause.
Seizures are typically classified into two main categories: focal and generalized seizures.

Background:

Room tilt illusion is a rare perceptual phenomenon where the environment appears tilted.
Epilepsy is a suspected but unproven cause of room tilt illusion.

Observation:

A 30-year-old woman experienced recurrent, brief episodes of environmental tilting.
These spells were initially misdiagnosed as psychogenic.
Video-electroencephalogram (EEG) monitoring captured the spells concurrently with generalized spike-wave discharges.

Findings:

The documented episodes of room tilt illusion were directly correlated with epileptic seizures.
The patient's own physical movements did not account for the perceived environmental tilt.

Implications:

This case provides the first documented evidence linking room tilt illusion to epilepsy.
It highlights the diverse clinical manifestations of epilepsy.
This finding may improve the diagnosis and treatment of patients with similar symptoms.
