Introduction:
The Israel National Program for Diabetes Prevention and Care was established in 2014 and endorsed by the Minister of Health in 2016. The ultimate goal of the program is to ensure that all people with diabetes, or at high risk of developing diabetes, will live well and have access to high-quality services that meet their individual needs. The aim of this paper is to describe the program's scope, main components and foremost achievements. In addition, we review national programs in selected countries worldwide, and highlight current and future trends that will affect diabetes management and care.
