They often manifest with anorectal symptoms, and may present as localized lesions, proctitis, or enteritis. To avoid misdiagnosis and stop transmissions to their sexual partners, testing for sexually transmitted diseases is indicated in most individuals with anorectal symptoms. This article provides an overview of the diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted anorectal infections.
