This study found that approximately one-quarter of COVID-19 survivors develop telogen effluvium (TE), a type of hair loss. This post-viral hair shedding, termed COVID-19 associated TE (CATE), occurred about 7-8 weeks after infection and was more common in women and those with hypertension or respiratory symptoms.
