Summary

Endometrial biopsy is a safe and effective in-office procedure for diagnosing abnormal uterine bleeding, showing high sensitivity for endometrial cancer and atypical hyperplasia. Patient comfort is enhanced with analgesia, and pre-procedure discussions improve outcomes.

Background:

Abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) is a common gynecological issue in premenopausal and postmenopausal women.
Endometrial biopsy (EMB) is a standard diagnostic tool for evaluating AUB.
Office-based procedures are preferred for patient convenience and cost-effectiveness.

Purpose of the Study:

To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy and practical considerations of endometrial biopsy for abnormal uterine bleeding.
To assess the sensitivity and specificity of endometrial biopsy in detecting endometrial cancer and atypical hyperplasia.
To review methods for improving patient comfort and procedural success.

Main Methods:

Review of existing data on endometrial biopsy performance.
Analysis of sensitivity and specificity for endometrial cancer and atypical hyperplasia.
