Short course of antibiotics for post-cesarean section endometritis

Although post-cesarean section endometritis is a common postoperative complication, little has been reported on the safety of short-course therapy, particularly in indigent populations. Our preliminary data on 25 indigent patients with endometritis treated only until 24 to 36 hours after defervescence suggest that courses of antibiotics need not routinely be continued for 7 to 10 days.
