Background:

Metastatic breast cancer treatment often involves long-term therapies.
Denosumab is a common treatment option for bone metastases.
Improved cancer survival rates increase the number of patients on long-term medications.

Observation:

A case report details an adverse dental side effect in a patient undergoing long-term denosumab therapy.
The patient, with metastatic breast cancer, developed extensive invasive cervical root resorption affecting most teeth.
No other contributing risk factors for the dental condition were identified.

Findings:

Long-term denosumab use is associated with invasive cervical root resorption.
This dental adverse effect can be severe and widespread.
The exact mechanism linking denosumab to root resorption requires further investigation.

Implications:

Dental practitioners must be aware of potential denosumab-induced dental complications.
Comprehensive dental examinations, including radiography, are essential for patients on long-term denosumab.
Early identification of invasive cervical root resorption can guide dental management in cancer survivors.
