Formulating and Validating Nursing Diagnosis II01:25

Formulating and Validating Nursing Diagnosis II

3.2K
Nursing diagnoses represent a problem validated by major defining characteristics. There are four categories of nursing diagnoses: problem-focused, risk, health promotion or wellness, and syndrome. The anatomy of a nursing diagnosis includes three components: problem statement or diagnostic label, defining characteristics, and related factors.
Risk nursing diagnoses represent clinical judgments of an individual, family, or community more vulnerable to developing the health problem than others...

Formulating and Validating Nursing Diagnosis I

3.1K
A nursing diagnosis is written when the nurse recognizes a cluster of essential patient data indicating health problems treated with independent nursing interventions. The standardized terminologies of a nursing diagnosis help nurses identify and treat patients' problems. Every electronic health record that uses nursing diagnosis must employ standard diagnostic terminology. Developing an efficient, individualized care plan begins with accurate nursing diagnoses.

Somatic Spinal Reflexes01:22

Somatic Spinal Reflexes

3.0K
Somatic spinal reflexes are rapid, involuntary muscular responses to external stimuli that involve the somatic musculature and the spinal cord.
One of the most well-known somatic spinal reflexes is the stretch reflex, which is activated by the sudden stretching of a muscle. This reflex involves the activation of specialized sensory receptors called muscle spindles, which are located in the muscle tissue and detect changes in the length and speed of muscle contractions. When a muscle is suddenly...

Data Validation01:03

Data Validation

5.8K
Data validation is an essential part of a comprehensive assessment. Validation is confirming or verifying and opening the door to gathering more assessment data as it clarifies vague or unclear data. The process of checking and verifying the collected information is called data validation. The primary purpose of data validation is to ensure data is as free from error, bias, and misinterpretation as possible.
Nursing assessment guides are generally based on holistic models rather than medical...

Disorders of the Skeletal Muscle01:28

Disorders of the Skeletal Muscle

1.2K
The clinical conditions affecting the skeletal muscle tissue are broadly categorized as musculoskeletal and neuromuscular disorders.
Musculoskeletal disorders
Musculoskeletal disorders involve injuries and conditions affecting the skeletal muscles and associated connective tissues. These disorders can arise from acute biomechanical stresses or chronic overuse and can occur across different age groups. Common injuries include sprains, fractures, and muscular strains, often resulting from...

Skeletal Muscle Relaxants: Therapeutic Uses

681
Skeletal muscle relaxants are used to relax muscle tone and alleviate painful muscle contractions. However, the choice of skeletal muscle relaxants depends on the duration of the surgical procedure in order to minimize potential side effects. Skeletal muscle relaxants like neuromuscular blocking agents [NMBAs] are commonly employed as adjuvants alongside general anesthetics in clinical settings. NMBAs are also used to maintain controlled ventilation during surgery of the larynx or pharynx...

Area of Science:

  • Integrative medicine
  • Pain management
  • Mental health

Background:

  • Limited research exists on yoga for somatoform pain disorders (SPDs).
  • Yoga is recognized for its benefits in managing chronic pain conditions.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To develop a yoga program tailored for patients with SPDs.
  • To assess the feasibility and safety of this yoga program.

Main Methods:

  • Literature review to formulate the yoga program.
  • Content validity assessed by 18 yoga experts using Content Validation Ratio (CVR).
  • Feasibility tested on 10 SPD patients (ICD-10 criteria) over two weeks.

Main Results:

  • A yoga module was developed, retaining 70.83% of proposed practices.
  • Two asanas (Trikonasana, Shalabhasana) were removed due to feasibility issues.
  • Significant reduction in pain severity observed post-intervention; content validity index was 0.55.

Conclusions:

  • A validated yoga module for SPDs was successfully developed.
  • The program demonstrated safety and potential efficacy in reducing pain.
  • Further research via randomized controlled trials is recommended to confirm efficacy.
