Ankle Joint

The ankle is formed by the talocrural joint (crural = leg). It consists of the articulations between the talus bone of the foot and the distal ends of the tibia and fibula of the leg. The superior aspect of the talus bone is square-shaped and has three areas of articulation. The top of the talus articulates with the inferior tibia. Literature review of existing evidence-based practice guidelines.
Analysis of definitions and applications of evidence levels in scientific literature.

Main Results:

Level V evidence represents expert opinion or anecdotal reports.
This level of evidence is considered the weakest and most susceptible to bias.

Conclusions:

Level V evidence should be interpreted with extreme caution.
It is generally insufficient for establishing definitive conclusions or guiding clinical practice.
