In vitro leishmanicidal activity of two cholesterol derivatives

An equimolar mixture of 5α-cholest-7-en-3β-ol and (+)-4-cholesten-3-one shows potent leishmanicidal activity against Leishmania mexicana. This sterol combination offers a highly effective and non-toxic alternative for treating cutaneous leishmaniasis.
