Background:

Teledentistry adoption increased post-Covid-19.
Ensuring consistent patient information in virtual consultations is crucial for informed decision-making.

Purpose of the Study:

Evaluate patient perceptions of video consultations.
Audit the delivery of patient information leaflets (PILs) in teledentistry.
Assess the impact of a digital system on information dissemination.

Main Methods:

Retrospective audit of 100 video consultations for PIL compliance.
Digitalization of PILs and introduction of a clinical mailbox for email distribution.
Repeat audit (88 consultations) and patient/staff feedback surveys.

Main Results:

Initial PIL compliance was 16%; post-mailbox, it rose to 94% (100% via email).
Patient and staff feedback on virtual consultations and digital PILs was positive.
Technical difficulties occurred in 44% of cases.

Conclusions:

Virtual consultations are perceived positively by patients.
A clinical mailbox improves efficiency and cost-effectiveness for digital PIL distribution.
Digital PILs standardize patient information, enhancing care quality in teledentistry.
