Background:

Medication errors are a significant concern in nursing practice and education.
Barcode Medication Administration (BCMA) systems are effective in reducing medication errors.
High costs of existing BCMA educational tools limit accessibility for nursing programs.

Purpose of the Study:

To develop a functional, low-cost Barcode Medication Administration (BCMA) system for nursing education.
To address the financial barriers preventing widespread adoption of BCMA training tools.
To enhance the transfer of BCMA skills from simulated to clinical settings.

Main Methods:

An interdisciplinary and collaborative approach was employed.
Focus on creating an innovative, fully functional, yet affordable BCMA system.
Development targeted for use in simulated nursing practice environments.

A fully functional, low-cost BCMA system was successfully created.
