Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy (PCNL) for large kidney stones can rarely cause gallbladder injury. This case report details a patient who developed acute abdomen post-PCNL, requiring cholecystectomy.

Background:

Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy (PCNL) is a primary treatment for large kidney stones.
While effective, PCNL carries a risk of rare but severe complications, including injury to adjacent organs.

Observation:

A 62-year-old female patient underwent PCNL for a right lower pole kidney stone.
Post-operatively, the patient presented with acute abdomen within 24 hours.

Findings:

Exploratory laparotomy revealed gallbladder injury secondary to the PCNL procedure.
The patient successfully underwent a cholecystectomy and recovered well.

Implications:

This case highlights the importance of recognizing uncommon complications following PCNL.
