Summary

Corpus cavernosum abscess, a rare genitourinary infection, can occur after ischemic priapism treatment. This case highlights successful management with the Al-Ghorab procedure and antibiotics, despite initial erectile dysfunction.

Background:

Corpus cavernosum abscess is an uncommon but serious genitourinary tract infection.
Prompt diagnosis and management are crucial to prevent complications.

Observation:

A 42-year-old male presented with penile shaft pain and edema 24 days post-drainage of a cavernous body abscess following ischemic priapism.
The patient had undergone a puncture drainage for ischemic priapism prior to the abscess development.

Findings:

The patient was treated with the Al-Ghorab procedure, snake-maneuver, and broad-spectrum antibiotics.
Successful resolution of the abscess was achieved, with no penile deviations observed post-treatment.

Implications:

This case underscores the importance of recognizing and managing corpus cavernosum abscesses, even after initial priapism treatment.
The described therapeutic approach may offer a viable strategy for similar rare clinical scenarios.
Further research into the long-term outcomes, including erectile function, is warranted.
