[Giant angiomyolipoma of the kidney]

A rare case of clinically unrecognized giant angiomyolipoma of the kidney in a 28-year old woman is reported. It was only the histologic study of the surgical material that verified the disease. The peculiar features of the case included absence of tuberous sclerosis signs, a long-term existence of the neoplasm, a relatively slow extrarenal growth of the angiomyolipoma without the impairment of the organ function, and the giant size of the tumor.
