Background:
- Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is an emerging zoonotic pathogen with wild boar as a primary reservoir in the Iberian Peninsula.
- Limited data exists on HEV circulation in sympatric species, including the endangered Iberian lynx (Lynx pardinus).
