Robots in long-term care (LTC) homes present both opportunities and risks. This study identifies key technological risks and ethical concerns, proposing six principles (ETHICS) for responsible robot adoption in aged care.

  • Purposive and snowballing sampling recruited 30 participants from LTC settings.
  • Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis.

  • There is a dual sentiment of interest and apprehension regarding robot use in LTC.
  • LTC practice leaders must prioritize ethical considerations and stakeholder engagement in technology adoption decisions.
  • Implementing robots requires careful balancing of benefits against risks to ensure resident well-being and dignity.
