Latent Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection alters rotavirus gastroenteritis in children, causing delayed hospitalization and prolonged symptoms. EBV also impacts immune cell profiles, with increased CD8+ T lymphocytes and decreased CD16+, CD22+ T lymphocytes and IgM.
