Is menstruation a valid reason to postpone cardiac surgery?

Women undergoing open heart surgery (OHS) during menstruation experience no increased surgical or menstrual blood loss. This study found comparable blood loss between menstruating and non-menstruating patients, debunking common concerns.

- Ongoing menstruation does not increase surgical blood loss during OHS.
- OHS does not significantly affect menstrual blood loss or duration.
