    Background:

    • Long-term intravenous chemotherapy poses challenges for venous access due to drug-induced venous sclerosis.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the simplicity, effectiveness, and complication rate of Silastic permanent indwelling catheters for superior vena cava access.
    • To demonstrate the safety and patient acceptance of this venous access method in a cohort of cancer patients.

    • Ninety-six patients with various malignancies (lymphoma, leukemia, breast cancer) underwent insertion of a Silastic catheter into the superior vena cava.
