  • Thirteen novice clinicians ( < 2 years of clinical education) assessed 8 examinees with known valvular heart disease.
  • Diagnostic accuracy was compared between bedside echocardiography and stethoscope use.

  • Bedside echocardiography showed 56% accuracy compared to 44% accuracy with stethoscope.
  • The difference in accuracy was not statistically significant.
