    Background:

    • Menière disease is a disorder of the inner ear.
    • It is characterized by fluctuating hearing loss, tinnitus, vertigo, and aural fullness.
    • The underlying pathophysiology is thought to involve endolymphatic hydrops.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the impact of Menière disease on the ability to detect amplitude modulation in sound.
    • To compare modulation detection thresholds between the better and poorer ears of patients with Menière disease.
    • To explore the relationship between Menière disease and peripheral auditory tuning.

    Main Methods:

    • Detection thresholds for sinusoidally amplitude-modulated broad-band noise were measured.
