    Background:

    • Endemic nephropathy is a serious kidney disease prevalent in certain regions.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To perform histopathologic analysis of kidneys from patients with endemic nephropathy.
    • To identify characteristic pathological changes and potential causative factors.

    • Kidney tissue samples from eleven Yugoslavian patients were analyzed.
    • Histopathologic examination focused on glomerular, tubular, and interstitial changes.

    • Kidneys showed increased mesangial matrix, abnormal lobulation, and vacuolar degeneration in glomeruli.
    • Tubules exhibited degeneration and regeneration, with interstitial scarring and cortical degeneration leading to renal atrophy.

    • Histopathology indicates toxic insult as a likely cause of endemic nephropathy.
