Background:

  • Extraskeletal osteosarcoma (ESOS) is a rare malignant tumor constituting only 1% of all sarcomas.
  • ESOS originates in soft tissues, distinct from primary bone osteosarcoma.

Observation:

  • A 78-year-old male presented with a palpable right lower quadrant mass.
  • Imaging and subsequent biopsy revealed extraskeletal osteosarcoma (ESOS).
  • The ESOS was found originating within a bladder diverticulum.

  • This case represents extraskeletal osteosarcoma (ESOS) of the bladder.
  • Fewer than 50 cases of ESOS in the bladder have been documented globally.
  • This is the fourth reported instance of primary osteosarcoma arising within a bladder diverticulum.
