Certification and licensure of radiologic technologists: Part I
Abstract:
This article focuses on the vast inconsistencies in radiologic technology credentialing within the United States. There is no Federal statute requiring licensure of medical radiologic technologists. Historically, professional self-monitoring certifying agencies have provided the voluntary competency requirements that are used in some states. However, among these agencies varying standards prevail. Even though the majority of states do not license radiologic technologists, there are efforts underway to introduce licensure within the field.
