Nursing Implementation01:15

Nursing Implementation

5.2K
Implementation is the execution of the nursing care plan developed during the planning phase.
The five steps to implementing effective nursing care include reassessing the patient, reviewing and revising the existing nursing care plan, organizing the resources and care delivery, anticipating and preventing complications, and implementing nursing interventions.

Coping Strategies: Problem Focused01:27

Coping Strategies: Problem Focused

119
Coping strategies are methods people use to manage, tolerate, or reduce the effects of stressors. These strategies involve both behavioral and psychological actions to handle stressful situations. One common approach is problem-focused coping, which aims to change or eliminate the source of stress rather than merely addressing its consequences. This method involves taking direct action to resolve the issue causing stress.
For example, consider a student who struggles to understand their...

Community Based Intervention01:30

Community Based Intervention

88
Community-based interventions in mental health represent a paradigm shift from institution-centered care to treatments embedded within the fabric of local communities. By prioritizing inclusion and leveraging existing societal structures, this approach fosters a supportive environment conducive to addressing mental health challenges while promoting individual dignity and agency.
Foundations of Community Mental Health Programs
Central to the success of community-based interventions is the...

Role of Communication in the Nursing Process II: Planning and Implementation

1.9K
Several factors are considered while creating a patient's care plan. Motivation is a factor in improving communication, and patients often require encouragement to try different approaches involving significant change. It is essential to involve the patient and family in decisions about the plan of care to determine whether the suggested methods are acceptable. Consider meeting critical comfort and safety needs before introducing new communication methods and techniques. Allow adequate time...

Methods Of Healthcare Delivery System01:26

Methods Of Healthcare Delivery System

3.4K
At the different levels of the healthcare system, we see varying methods of healthcare used. These methods include managed care systems, case management, and primary healthcare.
Managed Care System:
The managed care system is designed to control the cost while maintaining the quality of care. The patient's care from admission to discharge is planned by the primary care provider or the case manager, also known as the gatekeeper. In a managed care system, the number of care providers is...

Area of Science:

  • Occupational health
  • Public health
  • Health promotion

Background:

  • Workplaces are key settings for health promotion initiatives.
  • Policy, Systems, and Environmental (PSE) changes offer sustainable, broad-reach strategies for chronic disease prevention compared to individual-level interventions.
  • Little is known about the implementation of PSE changes for chronic disease within the workplace.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To examine the implementation of PSE changes for chronic disease in workplaces.
  • To understand the types and frequency of PSE strategies adopted by participating organizations.

Main Methods:

  • A non-experimental, one-group study was conducted in West Virginia.
  • 27 workplaces received micro-funding and technical assistance (TA) to implement PSEs using the CDC Work@Health®/ScoreCard program.
  • Data included baseline ScoreCard results and post-project survey responses.

Main Results:

  • Most participating workplaces were small (63% with 1-100 employees).
  • Baseline chronic disease organizational practices were minimal across nutrition, physical activity, diabetes, cholesterol, and high blood pressure.
  • A total of 95 PSEs were reported: 8 policy (P), 55 systems (S), and 32 environmental (E) changes.

Conclusions:

  • Policy change was the least utilized PSE strategy in this study.
  • Further research with robust designs is required to evaluate the impact of PSEs, the role of funding/TA, and their effectiveness in improving employee health.
