Summary

Extending embryo culture to day 6 for vitrification did not increase the proportion of eligible embryos per IVF cycle. However, the mean number of cryopreserved embryos increased significantly.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the impact of a cryopreservation policy change on embryo vitrification eligibility.
  • To identify factors predicting day 6 embryo development and vitrification.

  • Retrospective cohort study of 679 IVF cycles (August 2019 - December 2020).
  • Compared outcomes before and after a policy change allowing day 6 blastocyst vitrification.
