Summary

Ureterocalycostomy offers a viable surgical solution when ureteropelvic anastomosis fails. This plastic surgery technique should be considered before resorting to urinary diversion procedures like nephrostomy.

Background:

Ureteropelvic anastomosis is a standard surgical procedure.
Alternative reconstructive methods are needed when primary anastomosis is not feasible.

Observation:

Ureterocalycostomy was performed in two patients.
The surgical procedure yielded positive outcomes in both cases.

Findings:

Ureterocalycostomy is an effective surgical option for complex ureteral obstructions.
This technique provides a valuable alternative to urinary diversion.

Implications:

Ureterocalycostomy should be considered in cases where ureteropelvic anastomosis is impossible.
This approach may help preserve renal function by avoiding nephrostomy.
