Radiocapitellar arthroplasty (RCA) significantly improves elbow motion and patient outcomes for osteoarthritis. While complications occurred, RCA shows promise for specific elbow arthritis cases.

Primary elbow osteoarthritis affects ~2% of the population.
Total elbow arthroplasty (TEA) has limitations in weight-bearing and longevity.
Unicompartmental arthroplasty is an alternative for specific cases.

Purpose of the Study:

To describe the use of Uni-Elbow Radio-Capitellum and Lateral Resurfacing Elbow (RCA) for radiocapitellar arthritis.
To evaluate the effectiveness of RCA in improving elbow function and patient-reported outcomes.

Main Methods:

Systematic review of databases using keywords: radiocapitellar arthroplasty, RCA, UNI-E, LRE.
Inclusion of studies based on quality assessed by Cochrane risk of bias tool.
Exclusion of review studies.

Main Results:

RCA significantly increased flexion-extension (38.3°) and pronation-supination (35.2°).
Patient-reported outcomes improved significantly: Mayo Elbow Performance Score (+44.8), DASH Score (-45.0), and ASES Score (+47.0).
Complications occurred in 16.2% of patients, with higher rates in the UNI-E group.

Conclusions:

Radiocapitellar arthroplasty (RCA) demonstrates potential for treating radiocapitellar arthritis.
RCA is particularly beneficial when radial head excision risks lateral column instability.
