The current ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI)/non-STEMI (NSTEMI) classification hinders modern care. A shift to the occlusion myocardial infarction (OMI)/non-occlusion myocardial infarction (NOMI) paradigm based on acute coronary occlusion is proposed for better patient outcomes.
