Main Methods:
- One-step hydrothermal synthesis for ZrO2/NiO/rGO.
- Material characterization using X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and bright-field transmission electron microscopy (BF-TEM).
- Electrochemical performance evaluation via cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and linear sweep voltammetry (LSV).
Main Results:
- The ZrO2/NiO/rGO catalyst was successfully synthesized and characterized.
- For MOR: current density of 26.6 mA/cm², peak potential of 0.52 V, and 99.5% cyclic stability.
- For EOR: current density of 17.3 mA/cm², peak potential of 0.52 V, and 98.5% cyclic stability.
Conclusions:
- The synthesized ZrO2/NiO/rGO nanocatalyst exhibits outstanding electrocatalytic activity for both methanol and ethanol oxidation.
- The catalyst demonstrates high current densities and excellent cyclic stability, suitable for alcohol fuel cell anodes.
- This material presents an attractive and efficient option for next-generation alcoholic fuel cell applications.

Oxidation of Alcohols
The process of oxidation in a chemical reaction is observed in any of the three forms:
Hydroboration-Oxidation of Alkenes
Oxidation of Alkenes: Syn Dihydroxylation with Osmium Tetraoxide
Oxidation of Alkenes: Syn Dihydroxylation with Potassium Permanganate
Ethers from Alkenes: Alcohol Addition and Alkoxymercuration-Demercuration
Ethers can also be prepared from alkenes through acid-catalyzed addition of alcohols and alkoxymercuration–demercuration.
Preparation of Ethers by Acid-Catalyzed Addition of Alcohol to Alkenes
The acid-catalyzed addition of alcohol to an alkene involves treating the alkene with an excess of alcohol in the presence of an acid catalyst to form an ether under suitable conditions. The hydrogen will add to the less substituted carbon so that the nucleophile can attack the more...
