Background:

International Relations (IR) literature presents conflicting views on the future of international order, citing China's rise, American decline, or a leaderless world.
Paradoxically, escalating great-power tensions coexist with deepening global interdependencies, as seen in climate change and pandemic responses.

Purpose of the Study:

To analyze how global and regional orders are shaped by connective functional links between actors.
To introduce a novel analytical framework for understanding contemporary international relations and regionalism.

Main Methods:

Development of an analytical framework based on six distinct connectivity logics: cooperation, copying, cushioning, contestation, containment, and coercion.
Application of the framework across material, economic, institutional, knowledge, people-to-people, and security spheres.
Empirical analysis using case studies of key actors' policies in the Indo-Pacific region.

Main Results:

The framework reveals diverse patterns of connectivity influencing international and regional dynamics.
Functional links, driven by the six logics, are increasingly defining global and regional orders.
