Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the causal roles of genetically predicted risk factors and nutrients in the development of UC, CD, and NIC.
  • To provide evidence-based suggestions for the prevention and treatment of IBDs.

Main Methods:

  • Employed Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis utilizing large-scale genome-wide association study (GWAS) data from over 458,000 participants.
  • Conducted univariable and multivariable MR analyses to assess associations between 37 exposure factors and IBD subtypes.

  • Confirmed significant causal effects of multiple risk factors and nutrients on the pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel diseases.
  • Findings support targeted interventions and lifestyle modifications for IBD prevention and management.
