Summary

For vehicle-to-everything (V2X) services, 4G-LTE turbo codes demonstrate superior bit error rate (BER) and frame error rate (FER) performance compared to 5G polar and LDPC codes. Their efficiency with small data frames makes them ideal for 5G V2X applications.

Background:

Channel coding significantly impacts data transmission quality in wireless systems.
Low latency and low bit error rate (BER) are critical for vehicle-to-everything (V2X) services.
Efficient and powerful coding schemes are essential for reliable V2X communication.

Purpose of the Study:

To evaluate the performance of key channel coding schemes in V2X services.
To compare 4th-Generation Long-Term Evolution (4G-LTE) turbo codes, 5th-Generation New Radio (5G-NR) polar codes, and low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes.
To determine the most suitable coding schemes for V2X communication based on performance metrics.

Main Methods:

Utilized stochastic propagation models simulating line of sight (LOS), non-line of sight (NLOS), and vehicle-blocked (NLOSv) scenarios.
Investigated urban and highway environments using 3rd-Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) parameters.
Analyzed bit error rate (BER) and frame error rate (FER) across varying signal-to-noise ratios (SNR) for different coding schemes and small V2X data frames.
