Summary

This study found that heavy smokers have higher serum triiodothyronine (T3) levels compared to non-smokers, with significant differences in urinary thiocyanate indicating smoking behavior. These T3 changes were not linked to thyroxine (T4) or thyrotropin (TSH) levels.
