Association between thyroid dysfunction and venous thromboembolism: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Thyroid dysfunction, including hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism, significantly increases the risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE). Routine thyroid function screening is recommended for individuals at high risk of VTE.

- Sensitivity and bias analyses confirmed the increased VTE risk in both hyperthyroid and hypothyroid states (ORs 1.322 and 1.74, respectively).
