Retired as an Air Force Colonel, Melanie has diverse experience in population health; case, disease, and utilization management; public policy; trauma and violence prevention; health literacy; and LEAN/Six Sigma process improvement in health care. A native of Louisiana but a worldwide traveler, Melanie documents anecdotal reports on the cultural influences of niche communities' motivations to access care, the impact of health disparities, and effects of social determinants of health. A certified case manager and a nurse executive, she holds master's degrees in Adult Health Nursing Case Management and Military Strategic Studies. Melanie is a CMSA Case Management Fellow (FCM), an American Academy of Nursing Fellow (FAAN), and a doctoral student at Marymount University.
