Managing Budd-Chiari Syndrome with Ayurvedic Treatment: A Case Report

Background:

• Budd-Chiari syndrome (BCS) is a rare hepatic venous outflow obstruction with poor prognosis.
• Obesity and thrombosis are significant risk factors.
• Conventional treatments have limitations.

Observation:

• A 42-year-old obese female patient presented with BCS, including inferior vena cava, portal vein, and hepatic vein thromboses, and moderate liver fibrosis.
• The patient received exclusive treatment with herbo-mineral Ayurvedic medicines.

Findings:

• Ayurvedic herbo-mineral compounds were used to address the thromboses.
• Treatment led to the regression of thromboses and normalization of liver function.
• The patient experienced a restoration of health.

Implications:

• This case study suggests the potential of Ayurvedic medicine in managing BCS.
• Ayurveda may offer a complementary or alternative therapeutic approach for liver disorders.
• Further research is warranted to validate these findings in larger cohorts.
