[Behavior of the trace element chromium in coronary arteriosclerosis]
Abstract:
The present literature is submitted to a searching examination concerning the behaviour of the trace element chromium in coronary arteriosclerosis. Since 1978 chromium has been determined by three research groups in the plasma or serum of patients with ischaemic heart disease, in which cases their results are contradictory. The reason is evident: it is difficult to measure reliably the element chromium and the appearing problems are occasionally underestimated. Reliable and reproducible determinations of chromium demand especially equipped laboratories in order to avoid the contamination of tests, a sensitive and specific equipment and above all very experienced analyticians.
