In open-angle glaucoma, the iridocorneal angle remains open, but the trabecular meshwork becomes stiff, slowing down the outflow of aqueous humor. Summary

Intrastromal antimicrobial injections offer a promising alternative for severe infectious keratitis, directly targeting infections for potentially faster resolution. Further research is needed to optimize this technique for various pathogens.

Infectious keratitis is a leading cause of vision loss globally.
Topical antimicrobials are standard but can be limited by poor penetration and toxicity.
Severe or resistant cases often require alternative treatment strategies.

Purpose of the Study:

To review the potential of intrastromal antimicrobial injections for managing severe infectious keratitis.
To highlight intrastromal injections as a direct drug delivery method.
To identify areas for future research regarding intrastromal antimicrobial therapy.

Main Methods:

Literature review focusing on intrastromal antimicrobial injections for infectious keratitis.
Analysis of existing evidence for bacterial, fungal, and viral keratitis.
