  • The patient underwent abdominoperineal resection with a permanent colostomy.

Findings:

  • The patient received five cycles of adjuvant chemotherapy with dacarbazine and carboplatin.
  • The patient is responding well to the adjuvant chemotherapy regimen.

Implications:

  • Abdominoperineal resection remains the primary surgical treatment for anorectal melanoma.
  • Patient compliance with permanent colostomy can be a significant challenge, impacting treatment adherence and outcomes.
  • Despite optimal interventions, survival rates for anorectal melanoma remain suboptimal, highlighting the need for improved therapeutic strategies.
