Rab GTPases act in a regulated cascade during membrane fusion, helping the lipid bilayers mix. The Rab family of proteins are active when bound to GTP, and inactive when bound to GDP. Summary

Oceanic hitchhikers, common remoras and pilot fish, demonstrate remarkable host fidelity by accompanying whale sharks and devil rays to extreme ocean depths. These findings shed light on the survival strategies of deep-sea commensal fish.
