• Bibliometric indicators were used to analyze relevant and highly cited articles.
• The Bibliometrix tool was employed for network visualization of authors, institutions, countries, citations, and keywords.

• A total of 1094 articles were published between 1997 and 2023, showing an increasing trend.
• The United States, China, and India were the most productive countries.
• Boston University, Columbia University, and the University of Granada were leading institutions, with Gorriz JM, Ramirez J, and Salas-Gonzalez D as most active authors.

Conclusions:

• Research on AI in dementia has significantly increased since 2018.
• Key contributors and trending topics have been identified, highlighting the field's growth.
